English students can work in Australia!
Just like any international student, the 570 visa allows English learners to work for 40 hours over a two week period. A great benefit to studying in Australia! Not only can you support yourself while you are here, but having a job gives you a great opportunity to practice your new English skills. You also have international work experience for your resume!
Pathway to university or community college
English program can be a direct entry pathway to a university or college in Australia without having to take the IELTS exam? Certain English colleges have 'foundation studies' relationships with university and community colleges that allow this to happen
Cost to study English
An English course will cost you approximately $AU 300 per week. Most students come for a minimum of 3 months. Many students choose 'homestay' accommodation (living with an Australian family) for the time they are in Australia, which costs between $250-$300 a week, depending on the type of accommodation you select.
Strict regulation of ESL schools
English schools in Australia are regulated by the government, so you are guaranteed of a quality education. This is not the case in many other countries.
English students receive the ELICOS student visa (subclass 570). This visa permits international students studying English to do so in an approved Australian school.
